Summary of Special Meeting / Member Vote
Following a successful Town Hall for members in November to present and discuss the Club's future indoor and outdoor facility plans, a Special Zoom Meeting of members was convened on December 9th for voting purposes. There were 98 registrations and 58 participants in the meeting.
Unsurprisingly, following a robust Q&A at the Town Hall, the discussions were brief on the separate motions for indoor and outdoor facilities, but the Board has duly noted them for further consideration.
The results of the vote were overwhelmingly in support of the strategy put forth by the FTF Committee. The Board would like to thank all members who attended and supported the event.
This is an exciting period for our Club. The proposals being put forth don't just involve a potential indoor facility run by our Club and an expansion of our use of the Alpine courts, these endeavors will shape our Club's short and medium term future. We expect a lengthy road ahead to bring these strategies to fruition which will involve a lot of hard work, but the Board and FTF Committee believe that the benefits to members will be worth all the effort! The Board would like to acknowledge and thank the FTF Committee for their past and ongoing efforts in this regard.
We will keep members posted as these plans develop.
Indoor Play Information/Acknowledgements
YEG / One Possession
If you are registered for a session at YEG or One Possession and cannot attend please follow the following process:
You must find a member substitute to replace you. Please advertise ahead of time on the WhatsApp group first and then, if no luck, also try the Club's Facebook page.
It is very important to fill any empty spots so as to have enough players to effectively fill the pre-booked courts.
Always Check the Calendar
Please be reminded to always check the Calendar as there are often changes - especially on these cold nights. Before you head out to the venue, it is always prudent to make sure the session is still on. Updates on WhatsApp and Facebook are very useful for this purpose.
Taking Down the Nets
For any of the members who help the captains take down the nets, please note to remove the middle rod within its cover before you try and pull out the end poles; the little connection that the rod goes into is breaking with the strain when the rod is not taken out before you remove the end poles. It happens mostly with the green nets. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Thank Yous!
Thank you to the captains and to Nicki who have been spending time following up to try and get members to attend a variety of sessions. Your efforts are appreciated!
Also, a heartfelt thank you to our volunteers who still captain through these cold winter temperatures - we appreciate you!!!
Upcoming AGM
Please note that the Club's AGM date will be posted in January and that the meeting will take place in March...stay tuned!
